A black girl was asked why she 'Talks White' You won't expect her answer
At that time, I wanted to tell her, "My profession is an Administrative Assistant! And, so, how would I look speaking any other way but articulately?" It's funny because many of the other sisters in there came up to me and told me to not feel bad and just be myself because that's just who I was! I was kind of hurt to hear that they too thought I sounded white- But I quickly realized that they were right, I couldn't help who I was and at least I was a nice person!!
I was homeless just like my attacker, yet she felt inferior some how to me! This is a crazy messed up world we live in! What was also surprising to me about what she did is that I freaken use Ebonics practically daily because I love to talk and it helps me to not be ridged or uptight! I don't use correct English 24/7, so why do people think I speak like a white person?
